Fire-resistant glass is actually a type of glass product that also has fire-resistant functions. When a fire occurs, it can effectively prevent the spread of the fire and has smoke-blocking properties. It is often used as a protective fire-resistant product. Its fire resistance performance can be determined based on its fire resistance characteristics. Through special processing and treatment techniques, glass products can possess both integrity and heat insulation.

Performance characteristics

High-temperature resistance: Fire-resistant glass is a building material that can withstand high temperatures when a fire occurs, preventing the spread of the fire.

2. Heat insulation and smoke isolation: Fire-resistant glass can effectively isolate flames, smoke and heat, providing people with more time and means to escape.

3. Light transmittance: Fire-resistant glass retains the light transmittance of ordinary glass, ensuring sufficient light in the room and reducing chaos in emergency situations.

4. Sound insulation performance: Some fire-resistant glasses have good sound insulation performance, which helps to reduce the interference of external noise on the interior.

5. Explosion-proof performance: Some fire-resistant glass can prevent glass shattering caused by fire and reduce the injury of flying fragments during a fire.

Main classification

Laminated composite fire-resistant glass

Laminated fire-resistant glass is made by bonding transparent fire-resistant adhesives together through one or more layers of flat plates. To put it simply, it's like the sandwich cookies we eat in daily life, with a layer of cream in the middle and two layers of cookies sandwiched between the top and bottom. Laminated composite fire-resistant glass is the best-selling type of glass in the glass industry. This is mainly because laminated composite fire-resistant glass has an extremely strong fire resistance. It can cure at room temperature or below 100℃. Even in the event of a fire, the adhesive of laminated composite fire-resistant glass will rapidly foam and expand to form an insulating, fire-resistant and heat-insulating foam layer, which can absorb a large amount of heat. Maintain the integrity of fire-resistant glass without causing injury.

2. Wired fire-resistant glass

Wire-reinforced fire-resistant glass has certain differences from laminated composite fire-resistant glass. Wire-reinforced fire-resistant glass is a composite glass body made by adding metal wires and mesh in the middle, which can enhance the overall impact resistance of fire-resistant glass. Moreover, it can be connected to electric heating and safety alarm systems to play multiple functional roles.

3. Special fire-resistant glass

Special fire-resistant glass refers to glass with a glass substrate of a special composition rather than that of ordinary flat glass. It mainly includes borosilicate fire-resistant glass, aluminosilicate fire-resistant glass, microcrystalline fire-resistant glass, etc. Their common main features are: Due to the difference in composition, the softening point of glass is relatively high, generally above 900℃, and the coefficient of thermal expansion is low. Under strong flames, it usually will not crack or deform due to high temperatures. Especially microcrystalline fire-resistant glass, in addition to the above characteristics, also has high mechanical strength, high flexural and compressive strength, as well as good chemical stability and physical and mechanical properties. It also has the advantages of high softening temperature and small coefficient of thermal expansion. When used as fire-resistant glass, they can be top-quality products. However, the production cost of special material fire-resistant glass (boron, aluminosilicate fire-resistant glass, microcrystalline fire-resistant glass) is high and the market price is expensive, which is difficult for people to accept. Therefore, transparent composite laminated fire-resistant glass is still the best-selling product in the current market.

4. Insulating fire-resistant glass

Insulating fire-resistant glass may be relatively unfamiliar to people compared to other types of fire-resistant glass, as it is a new type of fire-resistant glass produced in recent years. Insulating fire-resistant glass is a new type of glass that integrates sound insulation and noise reduction, heat insulation and heat preservation, as well as fire prevention functions. It is based on the production of insulating glass. Only a layer of metal salt needs to be coated on the side of the glass substrate that may come into contact with fire or flame. After drying at a certain temperature and humidity, it is processed into insulating glass of various shapes for insulating glass doors, Windows, partitions, partition walls, fireways, etc.

5. High-strength single-piece cesium-potassium fire-resistant glass

High-strength single-piece cesium-potassium fire-resistant glass is a new type of functional material for construction. It has excellent light transmission performance and fire resistance and flame retardancy. Although transparent like ordinary glass, high-strength single-pane cesium-potassium fire-resistant glass can prevent the spread of flames and heat transfer in the event of a fire, providing fire protection. Generally, high-end hotels, cinemas, exhibition halls and other public buildings will choose to use high-strength single-pane cesium-potassium fire-resistant glass.
